I'm Lucy, and I'm undertaking intensive retraining in cyber security with CAPSLOCK, with the intention of taking several certifications and, soon, starting a new career.

Why change career? Because I like to learn new things—and it's time for a change.

Why cyber security? I took my youngest—as I have done all my children—on a round of university open days. I've probably visited 25-30 different universities over the last few years.

Universities these days put a lot of effort into open days, and typically include a sample lecture, so that the prospective students get a feel for what it might be like. This particular open day was for software engineering, and the lecturer talked about the research work they were doing in cyber security. I found it fascinating... I was probably the most excited person in the room.

Why CAPSLOCK? I liked the idea of intensive hands-on training with the opportunity to gain industry-recognised certifications.

I am currently the editor at Corporate Eye, where I am responsible for the blog, for the development of our benchmarking tool, and for the research work that we do.

I also blog at Free From, about the issues involved in living gluten free and raising a coeliac child. I have published a book: Raising Your Coeliac Child (available through Amazon).

Raising Your Coeliac Child

***** 5 star

This book is written for people caring for children who have just been diagnosed with coeliac disease. It’s based on our twenty years of experience in bringing up a coeliac child.

Our daughter was diagnosed aged 1, and she’s now a happy and healthy 21 year old who can cook, who knows how to manage her diet, and isn’t afraid to eat out or to travel, whether she’s doing a four-day hike here in the UK or spending several weeks in foreign countries.

We’re based in the UK, so some of the detail may be different in your country, but the issues are the same. How do you deal with the diet—and what about all those other little (or not so little!) issues that come up every day?

If you’re wondering how to start, and how you’re going to manage, this book is for you. It isn’t a recipe book, or a book about nutrition; it’s about raising your coeliac child, and I hope it will make your life (and theirs) a little bit easier.
